The drive from Manuel Antonio to Puerto Jiménez on the Osa Peninsula is a roughly 4.5-hour journey down Costa Rica's southern Pacific coast. You leave the beaches of Manuel Antonio and Quepos, follow the scenic Costanera Sur coastal highway south past Dominical and Uvita, then cross to the Chacarita junction and into the wild rainforest of the Osa — the gateway to Corcovado National Park.
Fully paved the whole way. The quieter rural road across the Osa Peninsula joins the well-maintained Costanera Sur (Highway 34) coastal highway at Chacarita for most of the drive.
Fill up and grab snacks before heading onto the Osa Peninsula — services get sparse past Chacarita. The stop near Uvita or Dominical is perfect for a coffee and a Pacific photo.
Free child seats (infant, convertible, booster) are included. It's a long drive, so we plan a rest stop — just tell us ages at booking and we'll have the right seats ready.
One flat price per vehicle — $330 for 1-5 passengers — not per person. For families or small groups it beats a domestic flight plus transfers, and it's door-to-door.
Google Maps sometimes suggests a mountain route via San Isidro. Our drivers take the coastal Costanera Sur — flatter, more scenic, and usually faster.
We run this route at any hour. Night driving on the Costanera is safe with our professional drivers, though daytime is best for the coastal views.
Ask your driver about a quick stop at the Uvita 'Whale Tail' in Marino Ballena National Park on the way south — a great leg-stretch and a classic coastal photo.
